A Biblical, Historical, and Sociological Perspective on Tolerance, The Corruption Of Its Meaning Today, And The Corrosive Effects On Church, Nation And Culture.

If you are one of the millions of citizens who are greatly concerned about the spiritual, political, institutional, and cultural decline which has infected our nation over the past five decades or more, and which is drawing it farther and farther away from its Judeo-Christian roots and the values and vision established by our Founding Fathers, this book is for you.

My purpose in writing it was threefold:

1. Try and awake people to the danger we, as a society and nation, face today; 2. Identify passages from Scripture and statements by our Founders and other great historical figures that speak to the controversial issues of today; and 3. Identify necessary actions by religious, political, and cultural leaders, as well as every citizen, if we are to combat the danger and reverse the decline and decay infecting our great nation. A synopsis of the book follows:

What shall we tolerate?
Divine Love / Divine Intolerance

by Darrell J. Ahrens

The answer to that question will determine our very identity as a nation and a people. Secular-progressive liberalism demands a tolerance that not only accepts, but which approves and supports, beliefs, ideologies and lifestyles that not only violate one’s deeply held religious and moral values but which contradict Holy Scripture.

Divine Love / Divine Intolerance gives a Biblical, Historical, and Sociological perspective on Tolerance, how its meaning has been corrupted by secular-progressive liberalism, and the corrosive effects of this corruption on the Church, Government, Education and Society. The author maintains that given liberalism’s definition of tolerance God is not tolerant. God is supremely patient, merciful, loving and forgiving of us sinners for Jesus’ sake, but God does not and cannot tolerate that which violates His Holy Word, since to do so would violate His holy and just Nature.

The author identifies the corruptive effects of liberalism’s ungodly tolerance on nations and peoples by pointing
out striking parallels between Old Testament Israel’s tolerance of sin and rebellion against God’s Word, and the sin and rebellion against God’s Word in America today, as well as in other Western nations. This ungodly tolerance is drawing America away from its Judeo-Christian foundation and our Founding Fathers’ values and vision for America which they insisted were crucial to the nation’s welfare.

Scripture clearly states that nations, like individuals, will eventually reap what they sow. Just as Israel in Old Testament times sowed corruption and decadence and reaped terrible judgment, if we as a nation abandon our Christian heritage and the vision of our Founders and continue our slide into immorality by turning away from that divine authority who, in the words of our Founders, “governs the affairs of people and nations,” how can we expect to escape similar judgment?

Whereas tolerance is often a harmful and counterfeit love, intolerance is often genuine divine and human love. This genuine love has its source in God’s Truth, and genuine love never yields one iota of that Truth. God’s Divine Love and Divine Intolerance are both clearly seen in the cross, where the crucified Christ shows us God’s amazing grace and love for us sinners in Christ’s sacrifice for our sin, and God’s utter intolerance and hatred for our sin which made that atoning sacrifice necessary for our salvation.

What is America’s hope for reversing the nation’s religious, institutional, and cultural decline? Scripture and the writings of the Founding Fathers and other historical figures give us the answer, which the author presents throughout the book and summarizes with his recommendations in the concluding chapters.
